Helmut NewtonHelmut Newton’s One-off Album

Museum für Fotografie

Jun 5 – Nov 15, 2026 Charlottenburg

An album of 112 small original prints that Newton assembled in 1999 for a collector, shown framed side by side.

In 1999 Newton and the collector Gert Elfering chose 112 small black-and-white and color prints, mounted them on card and annotated each by hand with a title or anecdote. The sheets were never bound; they have since been framed individually so the whole album can be seen at once.

Iconic fashion pictures hang with behind-the-scenes working shots, Polaroids and advertising images, some never exhibited. Now in the Nicola Erni Collection, the album is shown in Berlin for the first time, as the third part of the museum’s summer exhibition.
