Helmut NewtonIntermezzo: Revisiting Helmut Newton

A four-screen film portrait of Helmut Newton, his exhibition posters, vintage magazines and a first Spotlight display on single photographs.

A transitional presentation while the Helmut Newton Foundation reworks its permanent display on the ground floor. Eight projectors cast a looped film across four screens, combining a portrait made for a Newton show in A Coruña with unreleased material, including June Newton’s digitized personal recordings and new interviews.

Nearly 100 exhibition posters remain on view, now with posters from Alice Springs’ shows, above a display case of magazines with her editorial work. A new series, Spotlight: Behind the Frame, opens with Rue Aubriot (1975) and Alice Springs’ 1970 Gitanes advertisement, shown with contact sheets and Polaroids.
