Across Epochs: Gursky, Lucas, Miró, Warhol and the Art of the Long 19th Century
Works of the 20th and 21st centuries placed among the museum’s 19th-century art on all three floors, for its 150th anniversary.
The Alte Nationalgalerie draws on the collection it shares with the Neue Nationalgalerie and Hamburger Bahnhof to set later works beside 19th-century ones at chosen spots throughout the building, inviting free association between periods. Works by Gursky, Lucas, Miró and Warhol appear alongside pieces by painters such as Bernhard Heisig and Gotthard Graubner.
