Ruth AsawaLasting Joy: Asawa Family Selections

Minnesota Street Project

Oct 10 – Dec 16, 2026 Dogpatch

Twenty life cast masks of Ruth Asawa’s family members, each paired with the Asawa artwork that person chose.

Each of twenty family members is represented by a life cast mask of their face and by a favorite work by Asawa, accompanied by their own written account of why they chose it.

The choices run from a surfboard, jewelry and a giant Celastic head to rarely seen sketchbooks, paintings and wire sculptures. The show takes its title from Asawa’s 2001 statement about the lasting joy of making art with her children and grandchildren.
