A large-scale text mural on the exterior of 1201 Minnesota Street, from Susan O’Malley’s Advice from My 80-Year-Old Self series.
Art Before Dishes (2015) makes its debut as a mural installation. It comes from O’Malley’s project in which she asked more than a hundred people what advice their 80-year-old selves would give, then turned the answers into bold text-based prints, posters and murals shared back with the public.
The mural marks the tenth anniversary of the San Francisco Art Book Fair. O’Malley (1976–2015) was a Bay Area artist and curator; a monograph of her work was published by Chronicle Books in 2026.
