The Nigerian painter’s first US solo museum show, pairing her paintings with African sculpture and textiles.

Omuku’s paintings imagine a better life for young Nigerians, with figures in forests, gardens and by the water, settings many people in Lagos rarely get to. She paints on sanyan, a handwoven Yoruba cloth traditionally worn on ceremonial occasions.

The paintings hang alongside sculptures and textiles from the museum’s arts of Africa collection.
