Peter de SwartAbsence / Presence

Recent abstract work by Peter de Swart, made to be at once visible and invisible, present and absent.

The show gathers recent work by de Swart, whose statement concerns how we look at the world and how the world looks back. He treats abstraction as a drawing away: the work withdraws from the viewer’s concerns to gain a life of its own, confronting us with its silence and remoteness, which is also a kind of closeness.
