Group exhibition
In Populated Air
Devynn Barnes, Jess Xiaoyi Han, Jan Meissner and others
Aug 14 – Oct 30, 2026 Fisherman’s Wharf
Paintings and other works by eight artists on inherited stories and ancestral memory, taking its cue from a Lucille Clifton poem.
The show takes its title from Lucille Clifton’s poem Confession (1980) and asks how stories are inherited, performed and protected, and how they shape the way we move through the world. Eight artists, from their twenties to their eighties, work in varied media to make personal, communal and ancestral histories visible.
Listed works include oil, acrylic and gold foil paintings by Devynn Barnes and small oil paintings by Jess Xiaoyi Han. Jan Meissner, Rena Monet, Jasmine Ross, Jillian Shea, Corrine Slade and Stella Zhang also take part.
