Liam Everettthe passenger

Recent paintings by the Northern California artist, in his first solo show with the gallery.

Everett builds these surfaces from ink, oil, sand and wood ash on linen and then wears them back, leaving fields of color with only faint suggestions of a horizon. The gallery ties the new work to his reading on light and living things, and to the sunlight of the studio where each canvas was made.

He works over canvases laid on the floor, using improvised tools, and treats his garden as part of the same practice.
