RAWdanceEcho
Sep 1 – Dec 31, 2026 Jackson Square
A dance company develops a new work performed inside a mirrored set, on identity and technology’s feedback loops.
RAWdance, the San Francisco and Hudson Valley dance company founded by Ryan T. Smith and Wendy Rein, is in residence at 836M for the third time, using the space to finish an evening-length piece.
Echo is staged inside a mirrored sculptural set by designer Chad Owens, with the audience seated in the round. Drawing on ancient mythology, eight dancers, including Smith and Rein, explore how social media and artificial intelligence reflect and distort self-perception and relationships. The work premieres December 4–6 at Z Space.
