New monotypes and collages made from vinyl record sleeves and covers, including the Oculi series, which frames details of the covers through the sleeves’ round label holes.

New work made from vinyl record packaging, which Marclay has used for more than 40 years. For the monotypes in the Sleeves and Covers series, he inks record jackets and paper sleeves in 7-, 10- and 12-inch formats and runs them through a roller press, so each print keeps a ghost of the design along with its creases and wear.

The Oculi works lay 12-inch sleeves over album covers, using the round label hole to frame a detail of the image beneath, such as a hand, an eye or a mouth.
