Park Chan-wookQuand l’horloger immobilise le temps
Photographs the filmmaker took while traveling, candid and unscripted scenes of texture and shadow charged with quiet, open-ended mystery.
Known for virtuosic, violent cinema, Park Chan-wook treats photography as a freer, more intuitive practice, released from the control of a script and a shoot. Traveling and wandering, he photographs unplanned moments of texture, shadow and visual coincidence that hint at an unseen drama, balancing contemplative minimalism with an unsettling edge.
Muted color occasionally flares to mark an anomaly in the scene, leaving each image an open riddle about what came before or after. The show coincides with his photobook Par un matin calme, published by L’Artiere.
