Clay figures and dolls by ceramists of Brazil’s Jequitinhonha Valley, shaped by hand and colored with natural engobes.
Seven women ceramists from the Coletivo do Vale, working in the Jequitinhonha Valley of Minas Gerais, show figures, dolls and polished clay objects colored with natural engobes. The works draw on a local tradition of modeling clay passed down through generations.
The exhibition is an initiative of the State of Minas Gerais and Sebrae MG, which supports the region’s craft economy, and it introduces the collective to European audiences.
