New photographs of cacti, shot on neutral backdrops by day and in infrared-like multispectral color at dusk.

Chancel photographed cactus collections in gardens in Monaco, the Mexican orchard of the Hanbury botanical garden and the Villa Bocanegra near Menton, pairing daylight studio-style shots with blue-hour images made with a multispectral technique recalling infrared and ultraviolet film.

The project grew out of a cactus-themed exhibition at Marrakech’s Yves Saint Laurent museum and Monaco’s Nouveau Musée National, and follows Chancel’s 2023 Polka show Welcome to Paradise.
