Paintings, drawings, sculptures and tapestries by Lionel Sabatté, mostly new, spread through the whole museum and its courtyard.

Sabatté works with dust, rust, wool, fingernails, dead skin and cement, materials at the edge of the living and the discarded. Oxidation is central: rust and pigments record matter in constant change. Deer, wolves, boars, bears, dogs and birds, the museum’s emblematic animals, appear in unexpected forms: a dog turns back into a wolf, sheep become wild creatures.

The show begins in the courtyard with Mort fertile, a monumental bronze stag whose antlers sink into the earth, then runs through the temporary gallery and the permanent rooms. It continues a dialogue with the museum begun in 2017; the artist was nominated for the 2025 Prix Marcel Duchamp.
