David GilbertApparitions
Photographs of studio assemblages built from paper, fabric and string, staged as fragile, twilight-lit tableaux.
Gilbert builds and photographs small sculptures in his studio from modest materials—paper cut-outs, draped fabric, string and found objects—shaping paper castles, translucent curtains and unstable structures lit by the day’s last natural light.
The assemblages sit somewhere between model, still life and an emptied miniature theatre, each already carrying the trace of its own disappearance. This is Gilbert’s first solo exhibition in France, curated by Victoria Aresheva, and brings together fifteen years of his work.
