Amoako BoafoThe Home I Have Never Had
Boafo’s finger-painted portraits of friends, family and fellow artists, installed as the rooms of a home, for the fifth anniversary of the gallery’s Paris space.
Boafo, born in Accra in 1984, applies oil paint with his fingertips to build up skin and gesture, setting his figures against flat, patterned backgrounds, a method he developed as a student in Vienna. For the first time he makes home his subject, turning the gallery into an immersive interior that fills, room by room, with the people closest to him.
