David NashCatching Forms. Wood to Bronze
Bronze sculptures cast from Nash’s wood carvings, with patinas running from charred black to brown, green and bright red.
Nash, who has carved wood since the 1970s and refuses to fell healthy trees, translates some of his wooden pieces into bronze. Night Form (2026) is a larger version of Inside/Outside (2011), cast from the hollow a chainsaw cut inside a tree stump; Celtic Column, Cross Column and Black and Light Cross grew out of wooden works kept at Capel Rhiw, the former chapel in North Wales he uses as a studio.
