Paintings by the duo Les VLP, Jean Gabaret and Michel Espagnon, marking forty years of friendship and joint work.
Jean Gabaret and Michel Espagnon, who work together as the V.L.P., paint on one canvas in the manner of an exquisite corpse, each continuing the other’s lead. Pioneers of French street art since the early 1980s, they favor large gestural frescoes, performance and pure colors.
Their figure Zuman, created in 2000, and its successor Zuman Kojito (2005) recur amid references from Antiquity to pop culture, Bosch to Keith Haring, and music. Desire, love and humanism drive their vision of a fairer world.
