Paintings, drawings and collages by two German avant-garde artists, Ella Bergmann-Michel and Robert Michel, from the 1910s onward.
The show pairs Ella Bergmann-Michel, whose work moved between Dada, constructivism, photography, film and later paper and thread collages, with her husband Robert Michel. His enigmatic 1919–1921 paintings and drawings place jointed, puppet-like figures in axonometric industrial landscapes full of gears, vehicles, black cats and cabbalistic symbols.
The gallery represents both artists’ estates exclusively. A fully illustrated catalogue on Michel’s 1919–1921 works accompanies the show, and about twenty works appear in the Premise section of Art Basel Paris 2026.
