Three series of analog photographic works made by pushing developer, fixer and photographic paper itself to exhaustion.

Dobokay’s second solo show at the gallery extends his work Development till Exhaustion, in which identically exposed sheets are developed in one bath until the spent developer stops reacting, leaving a gradient from black to white. Fixation till Exhaustion does the same with the fixer, until images can no longer be stabilized.

In Parts of Matter, discarded test strips and failed prints are pulped and remade into new paper sheets. Repeated, the process leaves them thinner and full of holes, shading from granular grey to near white.
