Solo exhibition

Leonora Carrington

Almine Rech, rue de Turenne

Sep 8 – Oct 10, 2026 Marais

Closed

The gallery’s first solo show of Carrington (1917–2011): paintings, sculpture, drawings, tapestry and masks.

Organized with the Consejo Leonora Carrington and rossogranada, the show brings together paintings, sculpture, works on paper, tapestry and masks by the Surrealist, who lived in France from 1937 to 1940 and settled in Mexico in 1942. Two paintings, The Lovers (1987) and El Laberinto (1991), are reunited here.

Sculpture gets particular attention, from early experiments to the large bronzes she made from wax and plasticine models in her last years, peopled by dragons, horses, birds and hybrid creatures. The art historian Mylène Ferrand wrote the accompanying essay.
