Recent oil paintings of domestic scenes, dressing, bathing and sleeping figures, plus three small oval adolescent profiles.
Riggs’s paintings pack figures, patterned fabrics and everyday objects into tight, often aerial views of home life: a couple asleep, two people at a dressing room mirror, a monumental bather. Watching her child grow up led her to revisit her own youth and the ways ideas of womanhood are handed down.
The title comes from three small oval paintings of stylized teenage profiles, and from the other sense of a cameo as a brief appearance. This is her second solo show with the gallery.
