NINAGAWA MikaCaptive Blooms

The Photographers' Gallery

Jun 19, 2026 – Jun 1, 2027 Soho

Large outdoor prints of goldfish, cherry blossom and flowers by Japanese photographer NINAGAWA Mika, shown on a building opposite the gallery.

Ninagawa’s intensely coloured photographs of goldfish, water and spring cherry blossom are displayed as a large-scale frieze in Soho Photography Quarter, the free outdoor space on Ramillies Street. Her images blur the line between the real and the imagined, drawing on art, fashion and pop culture.

Ninagawa is also a filmmaker and installation artist. More of her work appears in the gallery’s summer show Japanese Women Photographers: From 1950s to Now, which ended on 27 September.
