A skeletal conveyor-belt installation of polished steel and carved salvaged wood, carrying Vietnamese, Thai and British objects.
Co-commissioned with the Thailand Biennale in Phuket, the work snakes through both gallery spaces. Modular polished steel is combined with carved wooden fragments salvaged from balustrades, boats and door frames, evoking factory and airport systems that circulate goods.
On the belt, krathongs (floating banana-trunk offerings) and other vernacular objects shudder forward and back to a soundtrack of recontextualized pop music, never reaching a destination. It draws on the local histories of Phuket and South London.
