Modern Painting from the Courtauld and Reuben Collections

Cézanne, Modigliani, Léger, Picasso, Magritte and others

Courtauld Gallery

From Sep 18, 2026 Covent Garden

Early 20th-century paintings from the Courtauld and Reuben collections, by Cézanne, Modigliani, Léger, Picasso, Magritte and Man Ray.

Courtauld works such as Cézanne’s near-abstract Turning Road and Modigliani’s Nude set the stage for loans from the Reuben Collection: Cubist paintings by Léger, Man Ray’s monumental Black Widow of 1915, and a group of Picassos including portraits of Marie-Thérèse and Dora Maar.

Two 1950s Magrittes, The Dominion of Light and The Intimate Friend, are also on view. The display follows the Courtauld’s partnership with the Reuben Foundation, begun in 2025.
