Parhizi’s compositions in white ink on black canvas build detailed, illusory landscapes out of emotional experience, each taking months of patient, meditative work. Viewers are asked to look slowly into what the gallery describes as a visual abyss.

The show is Parhizi’s solo exhibition at Wönzimer, which he cofounded with Aidan Nelson in 2018, and it marks the gallery’s eighth year.
