Portrait statues of court officials and priests, with reliefs, figurines and sarcophagi, from Egypt’s Saite revival, lent by the British Museum.

The works date from the Twenty-Sixth Dynasty (664–526 BCE), named for its capital at Sais in the Nile Delta and a time of artistic revival. Statues in basalt, granite and quartzite portray officials of the court and priesthood; those made for temples let their subjects worship the gods forever, while those placed in tombs could shelter the spirit of the dead. All are on special loan from the British Museum, London, with texts in English and Spanish.
