New works in polyethylene layering and fire-stamped plywood “brandings”, including car lights, knives and clouds.

Schwiete builds images from small polyethylene blocks, layered into inlays and collages, and paints with fire by heating hand-made iron stamps and burning them into plywood panels. Motifs gathered over the years recur: car lights at night, large knife collections, and fenced or tattooed scenes.

Recent freehand brandings, the Allwetter series, show dramatic clouds and light effects in remote places. The show presents these self-invented image-making methods side by side.
