Courage: Sisters in Spirit

Prater Galerie

Sep 4, 2026 – Jan 3, 2027 Prenzlauer Berg

Works by women artists from the GDR-era ZfK and ifa collections shown beside contemporary pieces from Eastern Europe.

The show reopens the municipal Prater Galerie after renovation and looks back at its history as an East Berlin venue for contemporary art. Drawing on the collection of the GDR’s Center for Art Exhibitions, now partly held by the ifa, it counters the era’s under-representation of women by showing only women artists.

Works by Eva Vent, Gundula Schulze Eldowy and Magdalena Jetelová are set against recent works by artists from Eastern Europe, including Yevgenia Belorusets, Lesia Pcholka and Natalia Vatsadze. It is one chapter of the ifa series Publik Machen.
