Mathias GramosoRhetorical Silence
A white fiberglass sphere, recordings, drawings and photographs left from the artist’s seven days and nights in darkness inside it.
Gramoso spent a week inside a lightless spherical chamber, and the show presents what remained of that performance: spoken reflections, sound and video recordings, gestural drawings, handwritten notes and the sphere itself. The artist calls these remains exuviae, like a shed skin.
Cables, cameras and microphones around the sphere are left in view, so the secluded interior and its apparatus of observation are seen together. Pen and pencil drawings (Phosphene) and photographs (Internal Log) complete the show.
