Crone Berlin

Sep 10 – Oct 31, 2026 Wilmersdorf

New thickly layered oil paintings of buildings, surfaces and everyday objects in place of the human figure.

Krauss, known for impasto paintings about the individual and the collective, turns for the first time to objects. Buildings, surfaces and everyday things stand in for the figure, drawn from observations of urban environments.

Oil paint is built up layer by layer into relief surfaces that recall geological sediment, with bright flashes of color surfacing beneath the upper layers. The series draws on psychoanalysis and Freud’s idea of the bodily ego.
