# *Catching Waves: Surfing in Bolinas Since 1909*

Jun 20 – Oct 18, 2026 · on view, closing soon · History Room

A local history of surfing and skateboarding in Bolinas, from a 1909 photograph to the present day.

The show follows surf and skate culture in Bolinas and Stinson Beach across generations, starting with the earliest known photograph of surfing there, John Parkin Jr. riding a wave in 1909, when boards were heavy solid wood.

It gives particular attention to Buzz Besozzi, whose 1960s Bolinas shop built surfboards, skateboards and kayaks and drew surfers and artists. He now hand-silkscreens clothing at the Surf Shop on Wharf Road. Curated by Elia Haworth and Marialidia Marcotulli.
