# Al-An deSouza: *Table Settings* Apr 9 – Nov 2, 2026 · on view · South Asian Galleries A watercolor installation on tea-stained grounds, mixing details from the museum’s galleries with the cracks and markings of city sidewalks. Over months at a living-room table, deSouza began each painting session with a pot of tea, whose leftovers formed the ground for that day’s work. Textures from the museum’s permanent galleries mix with the cracks, stains, signs and bumps the artist photographs on walks through the streets. The artist, born in 1958, chose watercolor partly because it is so often looked down on, as an amateur’s or a woman’s medium.
