## Exhibitions

### *111 Mini Gallery Opening Group Show*

Group exhibition · Dates not published · on view · 111 Mini Gallery

Jon Stich, Max Ehrman, Alice Koswara, Daryll Peirce, Hiericbro and others

An inaugural group show of paintings and works on paper by about ten artists, hung like a collector’s living room.

The opening show of the 111 Mini Gallery, a small space beside the main Minna Gallery on 2nd Street, mixes styles in an intimate, home-like hang. Jon Stich’s dreamlike worlds, Max Ehrman’s figuration and the fine line work of Alice Koswara and Daryll Peirce sit alongside Hiericbro’s graphic work.

Ralph Carlile Browne, Jason Garrity, Leon Loucheur and Robert Bowen also take part, ranging from moody atmospherics to surreal pop, lyrical abstraction and expressive mark-making. Viewing is by appointment.

### *Quarter Century of Psycho: A San Franpsycho Retrospective*

Group exhibition · Through Oct 16, 2026 · on view, closing soon

- Fri, Oct 16, 2026: Closing party with live bands (8 pm) and screening of Wet and Wreckless, doors 7 pm, until 11 pm; 21+, tickets $5–35

A retrospective of San Franpsycho’s 25 years: shirts, art, posters, archival footage and collaborations from the San Francisco surf label.

The show traces San Franpsycho, a clothing brand and surf community that grew out of Ocean Beach and a striped van. Original shirts, art, posters, archival footage and collaborations are gathered with stories from people the brand touched.

The closing party on October 16 centers on a screening of Wet and Wreckless, the label’s second surf film, not shown publicly for over two decades, with bands and a 21+ crowd.

### Randy Gaul: *Inner Workings*

From Oct 22, 2026 · coming up

- Thu, Oct 22, 2026: Opening night with the artist, 5–10 pm, free, 21+

Original artwork by a film concept designer: creatures, imagined landscapes and illuminated sculptures made outside his studio work.

Randy Gaul, a concept designer at Industrial Light & Magic whose artwork has contributed to films such as A.I. Artificial Intelligence, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone and Despicable Me, shows personal work made apart from his film career. Intricate creatures, imagined landscapes and illuminated sculptures grow from small encounters: a tree root, a dream, a conversation with the gallery’s owner that led to a darkly comic holiday house.

Passion Projects SF: The Artist Behind the Effect, with six Bay Area film artists, opens the same evening.

### *PASSION PROJECTS SF: The Artist Behind the Effect*

Group exhibition · From Oct 22, 2026 · coming up

Joel Aron, Leigh Barbier, John Bell, Joe Ceballos and others

- Thu, Oct 22, 2026: Opening night, 6–10 pm; free, RSVP requested, ages 21+

Personal paintings, drawings and photographs by six visual effects artists whose careers include work for film and television.

Six artists with credits at Industrial Light & Magic and Lucasfilm Animation, on productions such as Star Wars, Jurassic Park and Rogue One, show independent work made outside the demands of a production. The paintings, drawings and photographs reflect their own interests and imaginations.

The show is organized by Passion Projects SF, a nomadic gallery and shop for the personal art of visual effects professionals. It opens the same day as Randy Gaul’s Inner Workings, also at the gallery.
