## Exhibitions

### *Più di mille parole. Immagini da L’Osservatore Romano*

From Sep 30, 2026 · on view · Pinacoteca, rooms XVII–XVIII

Photographs and illustrations from the Vatican’s daily newspaper, mostly from the years since a 2020 redesign gave pictures more room.

L’Osservatore Romano, founded in 1861, was redesigned in October 2020 to give images more weight, starting with the front page. The first part of the show gathers front-page photographs picked by a team of journalists led by Piero Di Domenicantonio and Gaetano Vallini, many of them dramatic, some chosen as stories of hope.

The second part shows the work of the cartoonists and illustrators who draw for the paper’s regular features.

### *L’irrefrenabile curiosità*

Nov 14, 2025 – Oct 16, 2026 · on view, closing soon · Borgia Tower rooms

Twentieth-century paintings, sculptures, drawings and prints from the collection of the writer and critic Leone Piccioni, given to the museums in 2024.

Piccioni (1925–2018), a critic, journalist and deputy director general of the broadcaster RAI, studied under the poet Giuseppe Ungaretti, through whom he met Burri, Morandi, Guttuso, Carrà, Fautrier and Dorazio, all of them in the show.

His children Gloria and Giovanni gave the collection in 2024. The show, curated by Micol Forti, marks the centenary of his birth, and each room takes up one strand of how the collection came together.
