## Exhibitions

### Miriam Cahn: *Ciò che mi guarda*

Jun 11 – Nov 15, 2026 · on view

The first large museum retrospective in Italy of Miriam Cahn, with more than 100 paintings, drawings and pastels from the late 1970s to now.

Grouped by theme rather than date in the museum’s 1,400-square-meter main hall, the work runs from large early charcoal drawings and vivid watercolors of the atom bomb from the 1980s and early 1990s to recent paintings on canvas, circling the female body, war and desire. Two room installations anchor it: Herumliegen (2022), her answer to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, and Familienraum (1996–2009), twelve oils and four drawings of family members and inner landscapes. Curated by Cristiana Perrella; designed by Didier Fiúza Faustino.

### Hito Steyerl: *Mechanical Kurds*

Apr 29 – Nov 1, 2026 · on view

Hito Steyerl’s video installation on the Kurdish refugees who label images to train artificial intelligence, shown for the first time in Italy.

Commissioned in 2025 by the Jeu de Paume and the New Museum, the single-channel video plays in an installation that borrows the bounding boxes of machine vision, cutting between footage from the Domiz refugee camp in Iraqi Kurdistan and AI-generated images. Three Syrian Kurdish refugees describe their work tagging images; in the film the same workers become targets of Turkish drone strikes. The title recalls the 18th-century chess automaton known as the Mechanical Turk, whose name Amazon gave to its crowdsourcing platform. Curated by Alice Labor.

### Marialba Russo: *Sguardo rovescio*

Sep 24, 2026 – Jan 31, 2027 · on view

The first major Italian museum show of Marialba Russo: seven photo series from the 1970s that turn a woman’s eye on masculinity in southern Italy.

Russo, born in Giugliano, near Naples, in 1947, photographed men at feasts and rites across the South: men dressed as women for carnival in Campania (Travestimento), a man miming childbirth (Il Parto), a healing rite on a mountain near Avellino, a tarantism rite at Galatina, 130 men seen from behind, and porn-film posters on the walls of Naples and Aversa.

A second part, Immagini della Madonna dell’Arco (After), is at the Museo delle Civiltà. Curated by Cristiana Perrella and Elena Magini.

### Robin Rimbaud (Scanner): *52 Spaces*

Sep 24 – Nov 8, 2026 · on view · Sala Audio

A 2002 sound work by the British composer Scanner, built from Antonioni’s film L’eclisse and recordings made in the streets of Rome.

Made for the 90th anniversary of Michelangelo Antonioni’s birth, the piece takes apart the dialogue, noise, city sounds and music of L’eclisse (1962), starring Monica Vitti, and weaves them with Rimbaud’s own recordings of Rome, so that the filmed city and the real one overlap. Curated by Maria Lodovica Ferrari.

### Gaia De Megni: *Maria’s Dream*

Sep 24 – Nov 8, 2026 · on view

A new 16mm film by Gaia De Megni that searches Rome’s Verano cemetery for Monica Vitti’s grave while a mother and daughter talk.

The camera follows a search, made without the internet, through the cemetery’s avenues, statues and chapels, while in voice-over a mother and daughter talk about their relationship and the place of women today, with Vitti, the anti-diva of Italian cinema, between them. The film won ArteVisione 2024, the prize produced by Careof. Curated by Maria Lodovica Ferrari.
