Fendi / Karl Lagerfeld 1985* Jul 10 – Oct 25, 2026 · on view A restaging of the museum’s 1985 exhibition on Karl Lagerfeld’s work for Fendi, one of the first to bring fashion into an Italian museum. The 1985 show marked twenty years of Lagerfeld’s collaboration with Fendi and traced how a garment moves from first idea to design and production. The new version, conceived by Maria Grazia Chiuri and curated by Maria Luisa Frisa, follows Lagerfeld’s original sequence of sections, among them Tavolette, Caleidoscopio, Teatro, Schizzi and Computer, in different rooms. Original drawings and objects return on the old display structures where possible, with reproductions standing in for missing pieces, and a selection of the 1985 press coverage closes the show. Marinella Senatore: protagonista 2026* Apr 28 – Dec 31, 2026 · on view More than 40 drawings, collages and tapestries by Senatore, the museum’s artist of the year, in the first room of the visit. The room holds 32 drawings from It’s Time to Go Back to the Street, on parkour, mindful movement and group choreography; five graphite and charcoal drawings on Dante’s Divine Comedy; and two new collages, The Creation of a Context, built from texts written in community workshops. At the center are four new embroidered tapestries, The Theatre of Commons, made with the Chanakya School of Craft in Mumbai, with the light sculpture Remember The First Time You Saw Your Name. Luigi Murenu and Iango Henzi, an Italian-Swiss pair, have shot more than 300 covers for fashion magazines. The show, curated by Francesca Alfano Miglietti, runs from their staged, theatrical portraits to reportage and quieter, more personal pictures, treating the body as a place where identity is made and remade. The show comes to Rome enlarged from the Gallerie dell’Accademia in Venice, where it ran during the 2026 Biennale. The Historical Works section, curated by Andrea Tarsia, includes Imponderabilia (1977), Balkan Baroque (1997) and The Artist is Present (2010). At the center are Transitory Objects, a series she has worked on for more than thirty years: beds, structures and forms of quartz, amethyst and agate on which visitors lie, sit or stand. Shai Baitel of the Modern Art Museum in Shanghai curated the show with the artist.
