# Clément Cogitore: *Ferdinandea* Sep 5 – Oct 31, 2026 · on view A film, videos, archive documents and engraved photographs about Ferdinandea, a volcanic island that rose off Sicily in 1831 and sank months later. Cogitore’s first solo show with the gallery is a new arrangement of a project shown at Madre in Naples and Mucem in Marseille. The island surfaced in the Strait of Sicily in 1831, was claimed by Britain, France and the Kingdom of the Two Sicilies, and soon vanished. A 16 mm film of omens comes first, then a nine-part video mixing archive, re-enactment and fiction, and footage of a dive to the sunken bank. Photographs engraved with phrases and an engraving steeped in volcanic ash complete it.
