# *Affinités. Les merveilles des arts de l’Islam aux Objets d’art* Group exhibition · Jun 24 – Dec 6, 2026 · on view · Decorative Arts, Richelieu wing, rooms 502–519 About fifty objects from the Louvre’s Islamic art department, made between the ninth and seventeenth centuries, set among the European decorative arts galleries. With the Islamic art galleries closed for renovation, some of their major pieces move into the Decorative Arts rooms, where Islamic art was shown for over a century. Carved gems, ivories, lusterware, inlaid metal and enameled glass are grouped around three themes: light, color and sculpture. The route traces technical inventions in Islamic lands and the fascination they held for Europe, where such objects traveled from the Middle Ages on and shaped local design.
