## Exhibitions

### Florian Krewer: *woven thin*

Jun 19, 2026 – Jan 4, 2027 · on view

Sixteen recent large canvases by the New York–based German painter, his first solo show in France, hung among the museum’s collections.

Krewer’s dancers, performers, animals and lone figures drift through changing cityscapes and hazy interiors, cut loose from any context and seemingly free of gravity. Sixteen monumental recent paintings, some never shown before, hang close together in the collection galleries, following the artist’s gift of several works to the museum.

Born in Gerolstein in 1986, Krewer studied at the Düsseldorf Kunstakademie and has lived in New York since 2020.

### Kerry James Marshall: *The Histories*

Sep 18, 2026 – Jan 24, 2027 · on view

About seventy works from four decades by the American painter, his first exhibition in France, ending with eight paintings made for it.

Organized by the Royal Academy of Arts in London with the Kunsthaus Zürich, the show follows Marshall’s work in eleven groups from 1980 to today: early pictures such as Invisible Man (1986), large canvases on the Middle Passage, barbershop and park scenes that answer Manet and Seurat, the Souvenirs and Vignette series, imagined portraits of figures like Harriet Tubman, and the ever-growing sculpture Wake.

The eight new paintings turn to little-known episodes of African history, including the slave trade.

### Simone Fattal: *Des villes au fond d’un lac*

Sep 18, 2026 – Jan 24, 2027 · on view

About a hundred works from more than fifty years by the Damascus-born artist, from early landscape paintings to ceramics and collages.

Fattal, born in 1942 and long based in Paris, began painting trees, seafronts and mountains in Beirut in the late 1960s, took up clay in 1988 after moving to California, and returned to landscape in watercolor and ink in the 2010s. Her ceramic figures draw on ancient epics, from Gilgamesh to the Odyssey.

The works are grouped by theme rather than date. It is her first exhibition in a Paris museum.

### *Mariella Simoni*

Solo exhibition · Jul 21, 2026 – Jan 4, 2027 · on view

A recent group of paintings by the Italian artist, sparer in material and more attentive to relief, newly acquired by the museum.

Simoni, born in 1948 near Lake Garda, began in the mid-1970s with off-balance objects and plants spreading through exhibition spaces, and turned to painting in 1982, building surfaces in slow, sedimented layers. In Vienna she was close to Herbert Brandl, Otto Zitko and Franz West, and she showed at Documenta IX in 1992.

The works on view were acquired from the artist and from the dealer Peter Pakesch.

Twenty recent works by the Supports/Surfaces founder, newly acquired by the museum, tracing his output since 1982.

The museum has acquired twenty recent works by Daniel Dezeuze, a founding member of the Supports/Surfaces group, charting his path since 1982.

Made from reused materials such as doors, panels and skis, they show his taste for assemblage, color that generates form, and open space, drawing on sources from Mondrian to medieval and Mesoamerican art and calligraphy.

### *Stéphane Bordarier*

Solo exhibition · Jul 21, 2026 – Jan 4, 2027 · on view

Monochrome paintings made by laying pigment onto canvas coated in warm hide glue while it sets, including works from the Noires series.

Bordarier builds each canvas by sizing it with warm hide glue, then applying pigment only while the glue is still setting; the moment it fixes decides the work’s color and form.

His Noires mix two tones directly on the canvas, giving a chromatic depth that shifts with light and viewpoint. Five paintings entered the museum’s collection in 2026 through a gift from the artist and are shown with loans from his studio; after nearly thirty years with Galerie Jean Fournier, he is now represented by Galerie Dina Vierny.

### *Jean-François Bauret*

Solo exhibition · Jun 9, 2026 – Jan 4, 2027 · on view

Black-and-white portraits of artists at home and in their studios by the French photographer best known for his nudes.

Bauret (1932–2014), known for his nudes and advertising work, photographed artists from 1959 on, famous and unknown alike, in plain, direct black-and-white compositions. Every artist portrayed here, among them the painter Geneviève Asse in a series of her own, has work in the museum’s collection.

The museum first showed Bauret in a 1971 solo exhibition; this hang follows a gift of 80 prints from Claude Bauret Allard in 2017.
