## Exhibitions

### *La Bataille des couleurs*

Feb 13 – Dec 13, 2026 · on view · Maison Pompidou

How the Centre Pompidou got its red, blue, green and yellow pipes, told through drawings, photographs, models and archives.

Between 1971 and 1977 President Georges Pompidou, the architects Renzo Piano and Richard Rogers, the museum’s curators and several artists argued over the building’s colors; gold and blue, brown and even all-yellow schemes came up before each network got its own: red for circulation, blue for air, green for water, yellow for electricity.

A first room tells that story; a second shows tables, lamps, buckets and cables that carried the palette into the interior.

Works include Christian Boltanski’s installation Monument (1986), Mathieu Pernot’s Photomatons (1995–1997), two films by Teo Hernandez and Clarisse Hahn’s sculpture Pierre (2015), with Adrianna Wallis’s readings of undeliverable letters.

### Louise Bourgeois: *Extrême tension*

Oct 20, 2026 – Feb 21, 2027 · coming up · Bibliothèque nationale de France, Richelieu site, 5 rue Vivienne

Drawings and prints by Louise Bourgeois from the Centre Pompidou and the BnF, her first show at a Paris public institution since 2008.

Bringing the two institutions’ holdings together for the first time, the show traces how drawing and printmaking fed each other in her work, from a 1942 self-portrait and the 1947 portfolio He Disappeared into Complete Silence through tangled line drawings and the Femme-Maison figures.

At its center is Extreme tension (2007), eleven large sheets on aging and pain, shown with Turning Inwards, new to French audiences, and late works in red ink and fabric dye.
