# Federico Garolla: *Gente d’Italia. Fotografie 1949-1968*

Nov 19, 2026 – Apr 4, 2027 · coming up

About a hundred black-and-white photographs of Italy and its people in the two decades after the Second World War.

The show gathers around a hundred black-and-white pictures made in Italy between 1949 and 1968 by the photojournalist Federico Garolla (Naples 1925 – Milan 2012). They follow a country rebuilding after the war and moving toward the economic boom, balanced between tradition and modernity.

Ordinary life and social themes sit beside portraits of cultural figures, among them the painters Renato Guttuso and Massimo Campigli and the writers Elsa Morante and Giuseppe Ungaretti. Organised with Suazes; curated by I. Garolla and U. Lucas.
