Astore is shown through his late-1990s Bambine paintings, pared-down figures of children set in rarefied colour, and the large Nudo of 1994, a woman seen from behind against a red ground. A sculpture from his Speciazione series adds the idea of identity as ongoing transformation. Senatore’s works treat the body as relational and political. Un Corpo Unico combines printed figurative fragments with painted layers, while Autoritratto overpaints a photograph of her own hand holding a sheet of paper. Closing Mazzoleni’s 40th-anniversary celebrations, the show presents major works by de Chirico, whose paintings have been central to the family’s collecting and to the gallery’s activity. They are set against pieces by established and contemporary artists who have reworked his style and motifs from the 1930s to today, suggesting a “continuous Metaphysics.” Nunzio, Paolini and Senatore made new works for the occasion. Francolino and Astore each curate an installation of their own work, and do Espírito Santo contributes previously unseen pieces.
