Thu, Oct 22Opening, 6:30 pm, with the artist Letizia Fornasieri and the poet Davide Rondoni

Thirty small oil paintings of the Mocine landscape in the Tuscan countryside, conceived as one large composition.

Fornasieri turns to the Mocine, farmland near Monte Oliveto Maggiore in Tuscany. Her thirty small canvases are meant to be read together, almost as a single large work. Starting from observation, she pushes toward abstraction with dense, repeated, sometimes swirling brushstrokes that take on the quality of a ritual.

A new catalogue accompanies the show, with a text by the poet Davide Rondoni. The Milanese artist, a Brera graduate, won the Premio San Fedele in 1981 and was a friend of the painter William Congdon.
