## Exhibitions

### Tania Franco Klein: *RAGE™*

Sep 10 – Oct 17, 2026 · on view, closing soon

Constructed photographs, many of them self-portraits, in which Franco Klein treats rage as the defining emotion of the moment, both felt and manufactured.

In her first solo show with the gallery, Franco Klein looks at rage both as a fair response to the times and as something media and politics stoke for engagement, the idea behind the trademark sign in the title. Photographs such as The Scream (self-portrait) and Not, Sleepwalker (after Eric Fischl) borrow from painting, film and advertising.

Also on view are tall panels on aluminum from a series titled Manifesto: Scream and Subtitle, and lines of text engraved in marble and granite.

### *Manuel Álvarez Bravo*

Solo exhibition · Sep 10 – Oct 17, 2026 · on view, closing soon

A selection of photographs by the Mexican modernist Álvarez Bravo (1902–2002), centered on quiet, solitary scenes of sleepers, dreamers and everyday moments.

Shown alongside Tania Franco Klein’s RAGE™, the selection includes La Buena Fama Durmiendo (Good Reputation Sleeping), El ensueño (The Daydream), in which a young woman is lost in reverie, and Retrato de lo Eterno (Portrait of the Eternal), where deep shadow turns a commonplace moment strange. Self-taught at first, Álvarez Bravo was encouraged by Tina Modotti, and André Breton showed his work in Paris in 1939 and in a Surrealist exhibition in Mexico City in 1940.

### Sharon Core: *Flowering*

Oct 22 – Dec 19, 2026 · coming up

- Thu, Oct 22, 2026: Opening reception, 6–8 pm

Digital photographs of tulips, dahlias, poppies and other flowers from the artist’s garden, each against a stark white ground.

Core photographs varieties she has grown herself, many rare and centuries old, at stages from first bloom to dried decline. Each plant is isolated on white and cropped close, so its silhouette shapes the composition. Folds of petal, water beads and insects remain visible.

Made digitally, with a clinical, laboratory-like look unusual for her, the series grew out of her earlier project 1606–1907, a restaging of three centuries of floral painting.

### Karen Gunderson: *Dark Waves Rising*

Oct 22 – Dec 19, 2026 · coming up

- Thu, Oct 22, 2026: Opening reception, 6–8 pm
- Sat, Nov 7, 2026: Karen Gunderson in conversation with Margaret Andera, Milwaukee Art Museum

New oil-on-linen paintings of ocean waves and the moon, built from layered black and, for the first time, blue pigments.

Gunderson shows paintings from two long-running series. The Water paintings start from her own photographs taken whale watching on Cape Cod or looking over the Hudson behind her studio; long brushstrokes give the waves a textured surface that seems to shift with the viewer’s position. Here she adds blue pigment to her usual black for the first time.

The Moon paintings, begun around 1999–2000 in response to talk of advertising in space, are worked from NASA images. This is her first New York solo show in over ten years and her first with the gallery, which she joined in 2025.
