Marking artport’s 25th anniversary, the show traces a quarter century of net art through works the Whitney commissioned for its online gallery. It is organized by the site’s three commissioning strands: Gate Pages (2001–2006), main Commissions, and the Sunrise/Sunset series (2009–2024) with its successor, On the Hour. The open gallery plan evokes floating browser windows. The artists work in code, data visualization, gaming environments and AI, exploring privacy, identity and surveillance. The duo Operator premieres Human Unreadable Act III, a live performance in the Hess Family Theater on November 19, 21 and 22.
