# Isamu Noguchi: *“I am not a designer”* Sep 19, 2026 – Jan 3, 2027 · on view A retrospective of Noguchi’s design work across architecture, furniture, lighting, ceramics, stage sets and landscape. Organized by the High Museum of Art, the show is the first design retrospective of Noguchi’s work in nearly twenty-five years. Its title quotes his 1949 declaration, even as he kept working in industrial design, architecture, ceramics, furniture, lighting, stage sets and landscape design. It presents him as an interdisciplinary, multinational artist. This presentation is at the Peabody Essex Museum in Salem, Massachusetts, not at The Noguchi Museum; the show then travels to the Memorial Art Gallery in Rochester in 2027.
