Djordjadze builds the installation on site, setting new and older works in steel, aluminum and plaster against the gallery’s neo-Renaissance building, whose dark wood floors she has covered in pale vinyl. Steel vitrines hold ambiguous prints behind plexiglass, a form she first made in 2017 for Munich’s Pinakothek der Moderne. New plaster-filled wooden reliefs keep the grooves, holes, scratches and drips of their making. It is her first solo show at the New York gallery. Bak builds dense, overlapping layers of mottled brushwork, letting fragments of imagery emerge slowly through successive veils of paint. His new body of work shows ghostly figures drifting into sleep among flowers, treating sleep both as outward bodily stillness and as an inner dreamscape. The exhibition is Bak’s first solo show at the New York gallery and marks his debut in the United States.
