# *Looking Back; Looking Forward: Selected Works, 2023 - Present* Two-person exhibition · Oct 8 – Dec 30, 2026 · on view, just opened Amanda Marchand and Leah Sobsey Botanical archival pigment prints and collages made by two photographers working together since 2023, drawing on herbarium and garden archives. Marchand and Sobsey have collaborated on alternative photographic projects for five years. The show begins with This Earthen Door, reworked images from scans of Emily Dickinson’s herbarium of pressed flowers, and moves to Understory, their current project. Understory draws on the New York Botanical Garden’s archive, especially pictures by early twentieth-century staff photographer Fleda Griffith, a largely overlooked figure. The artists use her work to ask about visibility and historical memory for women in science and photography.
